Regional driver job description

General duties

Driving a commercial motor vehicle with a manual transmission Interstate within the contiguous United States only.  Loading/unloading lime with a pneumatic trailer and blower, which includes pulling, lifting, and hooking/unhooking heavy hoses weighing more than 60 lbs.  Making sure the load weight is within parameters set by DOT and the company.  Complying with HOS and DOT regulations as well as company policies and procedures.  Turn in BOLs, load sheets, or other paperwork as required.  May occasionally run local haul which includes dropping, hooking, and moving several trailers during shift; hooking and unhooking hydraulic lines from trailers. 

General requirements

Current CDL-A, current DOT physical, at least 23 years of age, at least 2 years of experience driving the same type of CMV.  Ability to read and write and to use a map.  Ability to back trailers in tight spaces such as loading docks or parking spaces.  Ability to use a tablet to log hours, turn in paperwork, turn in vehicle defects and record driving time.  May occasionally include weekend work.

Physical requirements

Ability to drive for long periods of time, ability to use clutch and shift gears while driving, ability to push/pull/lift up to 75 pounds, ability to climb in and out of trucks several times during shift, ability to climb up on the back of a truck and hook up air and electric lines to trailer.  Occasionally required to climb up the back to the top of a trailer to check contents.  Ability to do a thorough pre- and post-trip inspection – this includes opening and closing the hood, bending, reaching, and kneeling, and walking around the equipment, climbing in and out of the truck, opening and closing truck doors.
